Situated in the heart of Washington, D.C., the Kimpton Hotel Monaco is housed in the historic General Post Office building, constructed between 1839 and 1844. Designed by Robert Mills and Thomas U. Walter, the property is a celebrated example of Greek Revival architecture. Carefully restored and adapted for modern use, the hotel now combines historic grandeur with contemporary design to create an upscale guest experience.

		In 2002, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants transformed the landmark building into a 183-room luxury hotel. The renovation preserved the building’s original architectural features, from vaulted ceilings and expansive windows to the classical details of the Paris Ballroom and Athens Room.			Modern amenities and vibrant decor elements were integrated, maintaining the character of the historic structure while providing a sophisticated, inviting atmosphere. The property also includes Dirty Habit – a renowned restaurant celebrated for its stylish design and lively energy.
